The Top Five Social Media Websites Online Today
Jul 06, 2008 in Internet Marketing, Social Media Marketing
It’s Sunday July 6th. and today we lead into our new product announcement tomorrow with another article on Social Media or the new Web 2.0. Today we look at the top five Social Media websites online today.
As I mentioned tomorrow we should have a preview of a new product I’m launching which will help Internet Marketer’s everywhere with their Social Media Marketing. In the mean time please enjoy today’s feature.
Social Media sites are basically communities where like minded people gather to share information and experiences. They are viewed everyday by massive numbers of people and these same people actually generate the content for these sites.
These sites are growing in importance because they contain information users find interesting, timely and informative and they are becoming a target for Internet Marketers who see them as an untapped reservoir of potential clients.
The top five Social Media websites in terms of Inbound Links, Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank, and U.S. traffic data from Compete and Quantcast are lead by MySpace.
MySpace is a popular social networking website offering an interactive, user-submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs, groups, photos, music and videos for people internationally. It is one of the most successful sites in recent years, amassing 124 million profiles and has transformed life online since its launch.
MySpace is one of the most visited sites in the world and it’s introducing a huge number of people to content syndication and they allow millions of people around the world to publish to the web for the first time.
It is by far the dominant social network in the US and is at an all time high in terms of audience reach and engagement according to both comScore and Neilsen.
Coming in second is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is booming in terms of visitors and contributors. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, for the most part written by the masses and therefore should be viewed accordingly.
It is meant to be a starting point, a place to go for basic information and therefore it’s like any encyclopedia, a place to begin your research but not a place to end it.
Wikipedia is full of information, but this doesn’t mean that it’s all reliable information. Wikipedia is a good example of the new Web 2.0 and is a fine first step to get the basics quickly, especially for technology and pop culture related questions. Wikipedia is a wonderful resource if you use your own judgment and don’t always believe what you read.
It is supported by a non-profit organization and exists to serve information in an open platform. Anyone can edit it and, of course, this opens it up for all the issues and inaccuracies that come with an open platform. However Wikipedia is a wonderful resource and often provides excellent summaries and detailed articles.
In third place we have YouTube. YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. Founded in February 2005, and based in San Mateo, California, they specialize in showing short videos created by everyday people.
YouTube is a consumer media company for people to watch and share original videos worldwide through a Web experience.
It is the most popular site to visit for viewing online videos, sharing your favorite videos and for commenting on what you’ve seen. A slightly newer feature of YouTube is the ability to send invitations to people through email by using the “Invite Your Friends” feature.
Coming in at fourth is Facebook. According to Wikipedia Facebook is a social networking website launched on February 4, 2004. The free-access website is privately owned and operated by Facebook, Inc. Users can join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people.
People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profile to notify friends about themselves. The website’s name refers to the paper facebooks depicting members of a campus community that some American colleges and preparatory schools give to incoming students, faculty, and staff as a way to get to know other people on campus.
Finally, at number five we have Photobucket. Photobucket is a photo-sharing and hosting site owned by News Corp. Photobucket is a photo and video tool that could become a web-wide warehouse for the storage of digital media.
It is the Web’s most popular creative focal point, with nearly 40 million unique users around the world linking billions of personal photos, graphics and videos daily to hundreds of thousands of Web sites. It’s a tool that allows users to host images for use on social networking, e-commerce, gaming, enthusiast, and blogging sites.
These sites are all about shared experiences and are based on the technology of Web 2.0. Social media sites are where people come together online to interact, share experiences and make friends. They are the new wave which doesn’t seem to going out anytime soon.
You know what it’s like - you see a product that looks good and you buy it thinking it’s the answer to all your problems.
But it doesn’t work.
You first come onto the Internet and all you’re bombarded with is promotions and offers all telling you the same thing - making money from affiliate marketing is easy!
“If Making Money From Affiliate Marketing Is So Easy Why Isn’t Everyone Cashing In On It Like I Am?”
You see - I’ve been online since 1995. I have literally spent thousands and thousands of hours learning affiliate marketing and spending small fortunes on affiliate marketing products.
It’s been a long, lonely and painful journey but I’ve made it here to tell you the story!
You start off and everything looks rosy for you doesn’t it?
You hear about stories of riches over night and before you know it you have invested in some so-called solution that does nothing but empty your wallet and smash your dreams into even tinier pieces.
And this is the biggest pain of all.
The fact that you start blaming yourself. Like there’s something YOU could have done differently or something that YOU haven’t quite done right or correctly understood.
But that’s the point - it’s NOT YOUR FAULT. It’s not your fault at all..
“You Have Been Lied To - Affiliate Marketing Is NOT Easy UNLESS You Have a PROVEN, TIME-TESTED
System You Can Follow..”
If you’re anything like I was when I started out then you’ve tried different approaches, joined different programs and maybe made a little money (or not!) and you’re starting to feel FRUSTRATED, CONFUSED, LOST and ANGRY at the whole situation.
You are not alone. There are thousands of people out there who just desperately want to make some money from affiliate marketing but have found it impossible to do up until now..
..so why has it been so difficult for you to make money as an affiliate?
You have not been told the full story.
This is an all-time classic and I hear about it all the time. You buy a course or program and it leaves out some key element. Don’t you just HATE that?!
You start getting into the course and you think “this is pretty good” and then all of sudden something comes up where you are ASSUMED to have already made a giant leap that you don’t know how to do.
You feel ripped off and alone.
This is a feeling you know just as well as I do. In the 13 plus years that I’ve been online learning all this stuff I have been ripped off, let down and burned more times than I care to remember but you know what?
After all this pain and loss I have made it this far and I now know why this is. To share my message and my knowledge with you.
You see - I want to finally LEVEL THE PLAYING field and make it possible for you to make the money online that you truly deserve.
You DO deserve to make the money you want online. I know I felt that way when I first started out and now I make 5-figures and 6-figures PER MONTH and you can do this too.
You know by now that I’ve been around the affiliate marketing block a few times and it’s taken me years of painfully slow progress and costly trial and error to get to a position where I am now making literally millions of dollars online.
