Hi Everyone! It’s Saturday July 9th. and I hope everybody is having a great weekend. It’s turned into a beautiful afternoon here in Fredericton, NB Canada after a rainy morning.

Today I thought I would mention the Robin Sharma book again that I’ve been reading on and off for the past two months. It’s been more off than on because it’s only 221 pages long. I guess with it being the summer I just haven’t gotten back into reading again the way I had intended, but I will.

“The Greatness Guide” is the book and today he mentions that after most of us attend a self help seminar or read a book on the subject a couple of days later it’s back to the same old routine. What we learned didn’t stick and we’re back to seeing the negative, playing the victim and being cranky.

He said he’s discovered four main reasons why people resist change and don’t even try to improve their situation when the opportunity comes along. He calls it the “Four F Syndrome.”

The first F is Fear. People fear leaving their safe harbour or safe zone to venture off into the unknown. Most of us don’t like trying something new because it brings up our discomfort.

He says the best way to handle this Fear is to run toward it not away from it. Keep doing it until you’re no longer afraid of it. The fears you run away from run toward you. The fears you don’t own will own you.

The second F is Failure. No one wants to fail so most of us don’t even try. He says it’s sad because most of us don’t even take that first step to improve our health, or deepen our work relationships or to realize a dream. The only failure in life is the failure to try.

And he says the greatest risk you can ever take is not to take risks. “Failure is just an essential part of realizing success. There can be no success without failure.”

I’ll speak about the other two F’s that hold us back and keep us from realizing our dreams tomorrow. Now let’s get on to today’s topic. This is one of the first Article’s I ever wrote and for some reason it’s never been on the Blog. I hope you enjoy it….

How To Choose A Home Based Business

The biggest challenge facing anyone today who is interested in starting their own home based business is choosing from the plethora of opportunities or so called opportunities available online.

But before you begin to sift through the glut of potential prospects on the Web I would advise you to ask yourself the following questions:

1. What are your interests and what would you enjoy doing?

There isn’t much point in deciding to do something you aren’t going to enjoy. It would seem too much like a regular job and not something you would look forward to doing every day. You will have a much better chance of succeeding if you enjoy what you are doing.

I would suggest sitting down with pen and paper and making a list of what you would enjoy and tailoring your search based on this criteria.

2. Are you planning to supplement your current income or are you looking for a full time job?

As I mentioned there are many home based business ideas out there. Some are more attractive than others and have, potentially, a better probability of turning into a full time income. I approached every idea available as though it would become a full time salary, but only in time.

It would, of course, start out as any business does with realistic expectations income wise early on and grow from there. With your hard work and further investment of not only time but money it can turn into a full time situation. As with any business you reap what you sow, and this leads to what may be the biggest question of all.

3. How much money do you have to invest in your business?

Not only your initial outlay but for the first year of operation as well. This determination will cut down on some of the available choices as well because some require more of an investment than others.

4. One final question I asked myself was whether or not I was going to become involved in network marketing or an MLM operation or become involved with a so called more traditional home business.

Because of the power of the internet to attract so many potential customers it would be very difficult to say no I am sticking with a traditional out of my home type operation.

There are so many ways to attract clients online that I believe it would be detrimental to your ultimate success as a business owner to ignore the World Wide Web entirely.

I decided upon a combination of the two. A mix of the more traditional pre-internet advertising with the more up to date technological approach to marketing.

How To Find An Affiliate Program That’s Right For You

When thinking about starting your own home business one of your most important considerations is what should I sell. The answer to this question could ultimately determine the success or failure of your enterprise.

One of the best and easiest ways to make money is to sell products and services. If you don’t have a unique product or service to promote online you can always sell someone else’s merchandise or become an Affiliate Marketer. In some cases, you can join a network of affiliates that allows access to numerous merchants and a multitude of sales items. Joining one of these associate programs is a great way to build a long-term relationship with a number of affiliates.

Do not simply sign up for the first affiliate program to catch your eye? Spend some time researching the available programs. Create a list of programs that offer products relevant to your website. List the pros and cons associated with each, including commission rate, payment guidelines, and linking options.

It may take some time to find the best affiliate program for you, but this extra work will pay off in the long run in terms of better site traffic and increased sales.

Home Business Scams seem to be the most prevalent scam around on the Internet today. Many home business scams are designed to persuade you to sign up immediately before you have time to research or ask relevant questions. They try to take advantage of the impulse buyer. What most advocates of home business scams aren’t willing to tell you is that it’s going to require many hours of hard work before you earn a single dime online. Overall, home business scams are all too common on the web today.
