How to Increase Traffic with Resource Box Content

Thursday, August 28th, 2008 @ 9:47 pm | Article Marketing, Internet Marketing

Over the years Search Engine Optimization has become the method of choice for most Internet Marketers to get their web page and products discovered by potential clients. More and more Webmasters have discovered the potential writing articles has for driving traffic to their sites after being found by some of the major search engines.

Some have even created sites devoted entirely to providing articles for their visitors containing links that lead to their site which would be related to the subjects of their articles. For example, the sites may feature editorials covering a wide range of topics.

As a visitor or potential client reads the article they have searched for, they find at the end a resource box containing a link connecting them to the site that has submitted the article. Of course the commentary would be related to the theme of the website.

For example, let’s say the article is about Internet Marketing, the resource box link would connect to your site which is devoted to helping Internet Marketers make money online. These resource boxes, found at the end of articles, provide you the opportunity to promote both yourself and your website or product or service.

They normally contain the name of the author and a brief profile as well as a short explanation of the sponsoring site and a link to the site in question. If a visitor likes what they read, they will have the tendency to find out where the article came from in order to find more.

The resource box will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject or topic of interest. But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching in order to command the attention and interest of the reader.

While the resource box contains only a small amount of information, providing the right keywords and content for this limited space will provide more impetus for the reader to go to your website. There are many benefits to having a well written resource box with the main one being its ability to drive traffic to your site.

Many Webmasters allow other authors to place articles on their sites in order to provide fresh content for their page. They also create affiliations with other sites that can be beneficial in terms of increased traffic which may translate into more customers and additional sales as well.

So what would be viewed as good content for your resource box? Basically it comes down to keywords. Research and learn what people in your niche are mainly searching for and use the words they are using in the search engines to find the information you are providing.

There are many tools you can find online that can help you determine what keywords to use. You only have a small space to attract a lot of attention so you better make the most of it. Try to catch the interest of your reader with resource box content that forces them to take a second look.

Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point across but you do have the power of imagination and with the right approach, you can make them think and become intrigued. Another tip is to use keywords related to your site.

Don’t mislead your potential website visitors but take this opportunity to build your credibility so that more people will be persuaded to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make readers click your resource box link by providing content that creates a lasting impression.

Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It’s a great example of the old saying “Good things come in small packages”. It may be small in size but will aid significantly in driving traffic to your site.

A boring resource box will only deter visitors while a fun and imaginative approach will have potential clients knocking down your virtual door. The first step to creating an attractive resource box is realizing how important this resource is and what it can mean to your online business.

Adsense - The Advantages and Disadvantages

You’ve had your website online for quite awhile now and it’s attracting a steady flow of traffic on a daily basis. You’ve heard about Adsense and you’re thinking whether or not to use it on your site to generate some form of income.

There are Pros and Cons to using this approach to Internet advertising and AdSense has definitely made quite an impression with Internet Marketers everywhere and they remain very excited about it.

AdSense is generally a great tool for webmasters because it helps to eliminate the worry of how to raise enough money to keep their sites profitable enough to keep them online.

It allows webmasters to forget about these concerns and gives them the time to concentrate on creating quality content for their sites. In fact, the emphasis should be now on creating valuable content which will attract tons of traffic which will translate into more profit.

AdSense can also integrate very well with your website because it’s customizable in terms of colors, size and position which means you can experiment with it in any way you like to help maximize your income.

AdSense is a very good tool to help generate a constant revenue stream from your website. To accomplish this all you need to do is create some quality content and keep it updated on a regular basis.

This may lead to a full time income from Adsense alone, which a lot of Internet Marketers are doing today. So it’s become a business in and of itself. It’s also a great program because you can have the same account advertising on all of your web pages.

This is a great advantage for webmasters with a lot of content because it means they don’t have to create a lot of separate accounts. But as stated, there are several negative aspects to advertising with AdSense.

Clearly, the biggest negative effect the AdSense program can have on your business can occur if Google closes your account. Most of the time this happens because of what’s called ‘click fraud’, which means someone is creating artificial click throughs on your website.

This may not be your fault. It doesn’t have to be you making those artificial clicks. It could very well be your competition doing this in order to shut you down, or the competitor of whoever is advertising on your page, looking to drive their marketing costs up.

The earnings AdSense bring are by no means consistent. In fact, they’re far from it. You have to be very careful of what changes you make to your website.

Anything you do to your site could end up costing you a great deal of money because you have to keep your webpage near the top of the all important Search Engines at all times. It’s that kind of pressure that has a negative impact on you as a webmaster.

If you fail to accomplish this you won’t have any visitors, and that of course means you won’t have any AdSense revenue.

And finally, another major problem is that you have to constantly feed your site with quality content. Now, of course, certain sites are geared toward accomplishing this but with some types of content this is rather hard to achieve.

This is often why the services of a copywriter are employed to keep generating more and more content. When writing original content, the best things a website owner can do is research a topic thoroughly and then convey this information, in their own words, to their visitors through articles.

These are some of the pros and cons of using the AdSense network for generating profits through advertising. Now the decision as to whether or not this program can work for you is yours.

How to Build and Keep a List of Eager Subscribers

Every online business must provide great service in order to create satisfaction among their clientele.

As each customer receives top notch customer service through their buying experience, there is an excellent chance they will become a return consumer and buy again.

Better yet, they may recommend you and your business to other people who could generate more business for you and your website.

This increased traffic to your site provides an excellent opportunity for you to entice these potential customers to subscribe to your mailing list or opt-in list.

This is an email list you create of visitors who agree to be sent promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and advertisements on a regular basis to keep them updated about new products or services you may be providing or special events you may have planned.

These promotional materials are sent via e-mail to the members of the list over different time intervals.

Using email as the tool of choice for your marketing campaign goes a long way toward reducing your overall advertising costs.

Email is free of charge and if you can manage to create your own promotional materials you can also reduce costs there as well.

By using an opt-in subscribers list, you can rest assured that the information you are sending out is being read by the subscribers and not being deleted.

They have expressed an interest in the product or services you are providing, have signed up for the updates and therefore have consented to receiving them.

Of course you should also be aware, at all times, that a subscriber may decide to opt-out or unsubscribe at anytime if they feel that they are not getting what they want or what they expected.

Make sure that they’re satisfied with your opt-in marketing strategies by keeping them excited about receiving your promotional materials. Here are some tips that can help you build a list of eager subscribers.

Make your promotional materials interesting and fun. Try to use a little creativity but don’t go overboard.

Build your campaign around what your product, service or website is about. For example, if you are selling Internet Marketing products, try giving away free bonuses to your subscribers such as a free marketing course or an e-book.

Ask your list what they want. This way, you will stay one step ahead of them at all times and you may prevent them from going elsewhere to find what they’re looking for.

They will be eager to receive your updates because they know you are trying to provide them original and inventive Internet Marketing ideas.

Keep your website updated everyday by writing fresh and original articles that provide your visitors with good information.

If your subscribers enjoy your writing, they will visit your site on a regular basis and may eventually become paying customers.

Create a bi-weekly or monthly newsletter to send to your list which includes coupons for discounts on some of the products or services you may be providing.

This will help keep your subscribers interested in receiving your letter on a regular basis, if not for the content then for the savings that may be included.

The old adage, “the money is in the list”, has never been truer than it is today. For this reason you must be very careful how you treat the members of your list.

You must be very watchful not to bombard them with email for every product or service you may be promoting.

Find out what your subscribers are most interested in and divide your list into separate niche markets.

This way you only send certain advertisements to the members who are interested in that particular product.

By following these simple guidelines you should have a file of very eager buyers for many years to come.

How to Get Your Articles Read and Published

Many people dread having to write articles. They may feel it’s too much work and it could wind up being a waste of time if no one reads them.

To some others, reading articles seems like work also, especially if the article is boring and very ordinary.

Well, articles are supposed to be read because that’s the only way to achieve their main objective which is to get your message across online. If it isn’t read then it is a waste of time and effort.

Of course articles have to be written to be read. It’s just a matter of making them attractive to your potential readers. Writing a good article doesn’t have to be laborious and stressful.

If you follow the basics of good article writing then you can apply this template to each and every article you write.

Once you get the approach down then writing articles could be fun as well as profitable for you and your website.

The first step toward writing a good editorial is to pick a subject you know something about and this topic should relate to the over all theme of your website.

For example if your site is based upon Internet Marketing then your articles should relate to some aspect of that subject.

Once you know what you’re going to write about and have some knowledge of that particular area then it’s only a matter of making your article attention getting and interesting.

To ensure your articles get read and are entertaining, here are some tips you should apply to every article you create.

Use short paragraphs. When the paragraphs are long the piece can get jumbled and become confusing for the reader.

The initial appearance can give the reader the idea that it would be just too much work and too time consuming to read.

Make use of numbers or bullet points. As each point is stressed numbers and bullets can quickly make the point easy to read and remember.

As each point, tip, guide or method is started with a bullet or point, readers will know that this is where the tips start and getting stressed.

Format you bullets and numbers with indentations so that your article won’t look like a single block of square text. This will give your work a little bit of style and zest.

Use Sub-headings to sub-divide your paragraphs on the page. Doing this will break each point down into sections but still would incorporate into one whole article.

It would also make it easier for the reader to move on from one idea to another which would help with the transition from one thought to another.

This will also help to keep the reader’s attention while reading your work.

Grab their attention with a snappy, eye-catching title. If your title can peak the person’s curiosity and make them want to find out more you’ve already won half the battle to making that person read your article.

Use statements and questions that utilize keywords that the reader may be looking for.

Begin your titles with words like: “Tips on” or “How to”. People also enjoy lists so your title could say “Top 5 ways” or “10 Most Important”. These types of phrases help to peak their curiosity.

Try to keep them interested from start to finish by using real life situations that they can relate to. Use descriptive phrases and metaphors to drive home your point, but don’t over do it.

Quote facts and figures when the opportunity presents itself and state your source of the information so as to prove the validity of these statements.

This will give your editorial an air of authority but try not to make it too formal a presentation.

If you apply these simple tips consistently to each and every article you create then your work will be published Internet wide and you’ll see the benefits through increased traffic and profits for your website.

Five Ways To Help Eliminate Article Writer’s Block

Writing an article doesn’t just mean putting your thoughts into words then publishing it. You have to grab the attention of your readers and force them to keep reading. To get your message across you have to capture the interest of the reader by piquing their curiosity.

The main ingredient to writing an interesting article is a large dose of creativity. While creative flow may come naturally to some people, many others struggle with it which can lead to a severe case of writer’s block.

Many writers have become very frustrated when this happens because no matter what they do they cannot get the inspiration they need to compose an attention-grabbing editorial.

Creating images, in the readers mind through text, is an art in and of itself. A clear and crisp description requires a certain style that only imagination can provide. So what do you do when nothing comes to mind?

There is no definite way to get the perfect idea but there are ways to get your creative juices flowing. Here are five solutions to help unlock the writer within:

1) Ideas for a great article can come to mind at anytime. Whether you’re daydreaming at work, driving the kids to soccer practice or reading the news paper an inspiration can come from anywhere at anytime.

So with this in mind it’s important to write them down immediately. Keep a notebook or an Idea Book with you always. Ideas can be triggered by anything you may hear, see, or smell. Let your senses be your guide when it comes to finding great ideas.

2) Create a work space that inspires your creativity. Make it your happy place where outside distractions are at the very least minimal or non existent. Your writing space can be quite a hindrance if it doesn’t make you feel happy and relaxed.

Creativity comes from being in a relaxed state of mind and a workplace that causes distraction won’t be conducive to unlocking your creative flow.

3) Take a break from writing. If you try to write an article every day and you’ve done so for the past month then take a breather from the routine and relax.

We all need a rest every once in awhile in order to recharge our batteries so take a couple of days away from the schedule and you should see a world of difference when you go back to the keyboard.

4) Ask yourself questions which may help spark an idea. For example if your website’s main focus is Internet Marketing, what is sitting in your Inbox that you could talk about right now?

What marketing lesson have you learned recently that you could share? What marketing problem have you overcome recently that you could share with others?

5) Set the mood. You can do this by creating an atmosphere which makes you relaxed and helps you concentrate. Surround your workspace with objects that make you happy and tranquil. You can put up pictures, or objects that inspire, anything that can get the ideas flowing.

There are many ways to set the mood including having a glass of your favorite wine to stir up the imagination. Some writers have been known to use music as inspiration while others let the lighting create the mood.

Lack of imagination usually stems from boredom or stress and taking steps to reduce these inhibitors to original thought will have the flood gates to originality open in no time.

Making Money with Articles by Using Article Directories

Article Directories are websites that house free articles. These articles are usually put there by whoever owns the copyright to them as a promotional method.

Each article has the owners byline placed under it so that those who eventually read the article will know who wrote it, or at least who owns it, and will be able to get in contact with or visit their website for further information.

Article Directories are a great place to position your articles so that they will get maximum exposure and eventually make you money.

By using this method, people who are interested in your product or service will see your article, view you as an expert in the subject, and will visit your website.

Even if you cannot write or don’t have any knowledge on the subject which you are promoting you can always hire a writer to do the work for you.

Getting quality articles written will be expensive up front, but they will pay for themselves in no time, either through affiliate sales or selling your own services, and everything from then on is pure profit.

Let’s take a real life example. Imagine that you are an Internet Marketer working from home. You write an article on an Internet Marketing topic and place it on various article directories.

Those who are looking for the subject you wrote about will read your article, see that you have the knowledge and skill that is needed to help them become successful online, and visit your website or contact you via e-mail.

Your article just gained you a new client who may use your products and or services regularly, but will definitely give you a nice profit at least once.

Furthermore, since you have posted it on a free article directory, others who have affiliate websites about Internet Marketing will inevitably use your article for their website.

Since they must attach your byline to it, this will bring you even more exposure for every website that re-posts your article. This is because you will be benefiting from the traffic that they get to their website.

There are numerous article directories out there for you to utilize. Your bet best is to put a copy of each of your editorials on all you can find for maximum exposure.

It will eventually help to bring more traffic and customers to your website, which will lead to more sales and profit.

eCommerce is Thriving and For Obvious Reasons

eCommerce or Electronic Commerce is; distributing, buying, selling, marketing and servicing of products or services over the Internet. It’s not the sole domain of large companies as many small businesses have found considerable success selling their products online.

eCommerce is not only thriving in this economy, but Moody’s even suggests that one of the biggest economic afflictions of our time, these despicable oil prices, are fueling eCommerce because surfing online is a lot more economical than burning gas to drive to a mall.

It is far more than an online catalog, shopping cart, or payment processor. It is about generating and nurturing leads, acquiring new customers, and expanding your business capabilities and product or service offerings.

It’s referred to as a profitable business area by experts and is a fast growing and highly concentrated industry where transition is constant. Ecommerce is, simply put, the buying and selling of products online and is the evolution of traditional business practice combined with the power of the Internet.

eCommerce is a godsend in our hectic lives and virtual shopping is a dream come true because of the convenience of being able to do it from home and because of the time saving factor involved.

It is like a global marketplace that gives traders the opportunity to increase their sales and therefore increase their profits and when implemented properly, it is often faster, cheaper and more convenient than the traditional methods of bartering goods and services.

The road to creating a successful online store can be a difficult proposition if you aren’t aware of eCommerce principles and what it is supposed to do for your online business.

Perhaps most importantly, it’s about building relationships and when done properly, your website can be an extremely lucrative relationship portal. However eCommerce is quite a specialized field requiring a level of expertise and can take a considerable amount of time to implement properly.

Part of the attraction of eCommerce is that it lends itself extremely well to a variety of home-based business opportunities and growth in Canadian eCommerce is solid, with eMarketer reporting that Canadians are poised to double their online spending for retail goods from $8 billion in 2006 to $16 billion by 2009.

The challenge isn’t about the technology involved, it’s about utilizing technology to understand your customers better and turn a one-time purchase into a life-long relationship with perhaps the most remarkable feature being that anyone can do it.

There will always be a place for traditional commerce, but eCommerce is fast becoming a necessary and essential part of any business plan. Best of all, it is flexible so you can implement the necessary tools that will benefit your business, to either a small or large budget.

The only constant in the world of eCommerce is change and the impact of young consumers on Ecommerce is visible in the way they share product recommendations over the internet. This of course impacts your product popularity which can turn into a boon for your business or lead to its demise.

Ecommerce is usually split into two distinct types: B2C or Business to Consumer which is primarily focused on delivering goods and services directly to the end user or customers and is therefore essentially a virtual storefront.

Secondly, B2B or Business to Business eCommerce which is the trading of goods and services between businesses is another way to generate income through your online venture. The age of Virtual Window Shopping has become a reality but the problem is eCommerce is much easier to implement than it is to lead to success.

E-books Offer Many Advantages to Your Internet Marketing Campaign

E-books are books that are available online in digital format which are sold via the internet. They are ordered online and delivered electronically to your computer. They offer several advantages to Internet Marketers because E-books are great to advertise, sell, or self-publish your website, product, expertise, or service.

They are quickly becoming an important alternative to paper books and thousands of E-books are downloaded every day. They aren’t intended to replace paper books, although they are 50% less expensive than their printed counterparts.

E-books are transported to you instantly in minutes or in seconds, depending on your download speed, and are published in a variety of formats which require appropriate software to decode the text thus enabling it to be read on a computer or mobile device.

They are an environmentally friendly because they reduce the cost of distribution by eliminating the gas and oil required for transportation. They also offer the added benefit of convenience because they are text files that you can read on your Palm Pilot, laptop, notebook, or any of the small portable reading devices available on the market.

For the Internet Marketer they are fairly easy to produce, as their production cost is relatively inexpensive with no overhead in the sense of storage or shipping costs. Additionally, E-books are easily and rapidly distributed online and are ageless in that they aren’t flammable, they won’t mildew, they are water resistant and they cannot be misplaced, unlike their paperback counterparts.

Also free E-books are a powerful viral marketing tool that can literally provide you with an entire network of people to promote your business, absolutely free. Once your book is published online it tends to remain there for years providing an endless source of free advertising.

They offer the advantage to the Internet Marketer of providing instant gratification for the customer which is a huge marketing advantage in today’s marketplace.

They also provide the opportunity for years of residual profits from the continuous advertising provided by having your books online with your links included. Because of the instant download capability offered they provide the plus of being able to take advantage of the impulse buying aspect of sales online.

The Internet Marketer can also use informational E-books as freebies or giveaways to attract potential clients to a more expensive item they’re promoting or just to acquire their information to add to their mailing list.

Another alternative would be to create an E-book business as another revenue stream. After you’ve published several you could set up a website with the goal of selling your publications to all the information seekers online today.

Another advantage offered by the digital format is that your book can be easily modified or updated in order to keep in step with the continuous changes on the Web today. If you’re considering a career in Internet Marketing your first step should be to start writing an article every day to add to your website or Blog.

This habit not only attracts traffic to your website but these articles can be eventually combined to produce your first E-book. This E-book may lead to a very lucrative career on the World Wide Web.

The Advantages of a Well Designed Email Marketing Campaign

Email marketing is the use of email in marketing communications and is popular because sending email is much cheaper than most other forms of online marketing. It is the advertisement of a product, service, or brand through electronic mail and it lets you deliver your message to the people unlike a website, where the people have to come to your message.

It has proven to be very successful for those who know how to do it right. It is a very valuable technique to get your products and services promoted and if done correctly it can make you a very good living online. Email Marketing is a time tested proven method of mass marketing and is one of the oldest means of marketing products and services on the internet.

It is very popular because it can be much cheaper than traditional mail marketing and is adaptable enough to support your business in many different ways by helping to achieve a variety of different goals. Email marketing is in and of itself an excellent method of communicating and distributing information and is an essential part of an integrated marketing strategy.

It is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to market your company, your products, and your key personnel. This internet marketing strategy is one of the most effective ways to build an online business because it’s all about relationship building.

It has the ability to convert casual visitors into recurring customers and is simply one of the most efficient forms of communication you can utilize with your prospective and existing customers. Email marketing is cost effective and easy to measure and is a direct marketing tool that makes use of words to communicate a commercial message to your target audience.

It can be very impersonal if it isn’t carried out correctly, and without the relationship building aspect, which is the glue of the campaign, there is no bond to hold a new customer to your business. Email marketing is extremely efficient at driving new traffic to your website which eventually turns into new clients.

Responsible email marketing is based on the idea of permission and another advantage of email marketing is that it can reach a wide audience in a short period of time. A Marketing Sherpa study found 78% of business email marketers and 69% of consumer email marketers still think that email marketing is effective and its impact continues to grow.

According to a report from Gartner’s G2 research group, direct email marketing is likely be more prevalent than postal mail marketing in the near future in terms of customer acquisition and customer retention mailings.

The idea of email marketing is to build rapport and a good relationship with your subscribers which in turn results in more repeat customers for your enterprise. A well constructed email marketing campaign has the best bang for the buck by far, when compared to other online marketing strategies.

Billboard Advertising May Be a Diverse Alternative for Driving Online Traffic

Billboard advertising can be expensive, so you need to carefully weigh your options and be sure it’s the tactic you want to use along with your other internet marketing methods. It’s a bold move for a small business but if you can afford it, it’s a high impact way of getting your message across to potential customers offline.

Billboard advertising is effective when you want to reach everyone in a specific geographic area and is one of the most common forms of outdoor offline advertising. It is one of the fastest growing forms of offline marketing today excluding the Internet.

It is a very effective way to get a message out to the community and is unlike any other form of promotion in that the sponsor has only a few split seconds to get his message across in a memorable way.

It is the most high impact and cost effective medium available at present and is an excellent way to reach out and touch potential customers for many local and national advertisers. It’s the solution for many business owners who complain that television is just too expensive to be feasible any longer.

There are several forms in use today including Indoor Media Billboard Advertising which is starting to catch on in many areas of North America. Although it’s a relatively simple concept, there have been a number of technological advancements in the process as the years have passed.

Another form called Mobile Billboard Advertising is the most cost effective method of targeting demographic groups, wherever they may be. Whether they’re at sporting events, concerts, stuck in traffic, or at the beach, staring at a 6 x 10 feet hunk of plywood may be the only way to kill time at some juncture during the proceedings. The traditional way of acquiring this type of ad is to rent it from an outdoor advertising company.

If you decide that billboard advertising is a good fit for your online business, you will need to target the audience you want to reach with your message and select the appropriate size billboard. This type of promotion is primarily designed to reinforce messages that you have been marketing using other media.

Outdoor advertising is quickly gaining in popularity and the immediate impact and cost-effective nature of billboard advertising is undeniable. If you are wondering how much it costs and if the costs are worth the money, you can rest assured that billboard advertising is your best advertising bang for your buck.

It has been reported that marketers worldwide spent $22 billion last year on out-of-home campaigns, as billboard advertising is called. However, the profit potential for a business that markets billboard advertising is outstanding with the main reason being society, by and large, is more mobile than ever, and that means it is still something any company should consider as part of their internet marketing mix.

One problem with billboard advertising is, while your message is exposed to the masses, there is no real way to evaluate who really absorbs the ad. Another type is the LED billboard which produces a very high quality ad and is very popular in metropolitan areas. In time, the only type of outdoor billboard advertising available may be the LED ad because of its ability to capture the potential client’s attention.

The advantage of Gas Pump Billboard Advertising is that you have your captive audience of gas station patrons for approximately 3-5 minutes and it is a medium that gives a person something to do while they wait. While billboard advertising is less expensive than its multimedia competition, it is no less effective and can be suited to any product.

When it is combined with proven strategies for revenue growth, it can augment a company’s market position and overall picture thus contributing to the company’s success. No matter how you slice it, billboard advertising is on the rise in North America.

The Advantages Offered by Television Advertising to Your Online Business

Television advertising offers many advantages to any online business trying to promote their product or service. It is exceptional in that it appeals to numerous senses at once including sight, sound, motion and, some would argue, most importantly emotion.

People can see the product and the benefits it offers as well as the proof that it does work. It is the most effective medium for brands with mass appeal to speak to a national audience.

It’s no wonder then that television advertising is also the most powerful form of advertising in use today. If your budget isn’t large enough to approach national television then there’s always cable TV, with the advantage that you not only can target a specific geographic area, you can also target any demographic.

If your product or service is of interest to many potential buyers and you can afford it, then national television advertising is the best way to get your message across to a large audience and in a professional manner.

The cost of television advertising is usually much higher than radio and newspapers, and if you are going to pay for television, you need a product and message that requires the arena only the medium of television can provide.

However buying television advertising is easier and cheaper than it’s ever been due to a growing demand from small to mid-sized businesses.

There is the perception held by some that television advertising is evil because it bombards the viewing public with thousands of ads every day in an effort to persuade them to buy more goods sometimes at the expense of the more important things in life.

However, for advertisers wanting to target a specific group at a particular time there is no better medium available. For example, if you wanted to reach adult males between the ages of 25-40 then Monday Night Football would be a safe bet.

On the other hand in terms of growth one study shows that over the course of the first decade of the 21st century, Internet advertising is expected to grow at 21% a year, whereas traditional television advertising will grow at about 5% a year over the same time period.

It is still amazing that television advertising is still increasing and at record levels, even with the availability of free online content. Television marketing is crucial to building a brand identity and achieving good brand recognition in the marketplace although many people find the ads exasperating.

Research has shown that as many as 30% of the viewing audience changes channels during an advertisement. According to a survey of 133 national advertisers conducted by the Association of National Advertisers and Forrester Research, 78 percent of them believe that television advertising is less effective than it was two years ago.

Marketing experts emphasize that one of the most important aspects of television advertising is a high quality, well produced and properly delivered commercial. In terms of heightening awareness of your business or brand, television advertising is one of the most effective methods of marketing you can choose and it doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.

The Advantages of Radio Advertising as an Offline Medium to Promote Your Online Business

Radio advertising is an innovative way to reach thousands, and sometimes millions of listeners. It is an art and you face the challenge of having a limited time, it’s generally sold in slots of 15, 30, and 60 second duration, to get your message across to your audience.

Therefore, the right things need to be said in order to create a lasting impression with your listeners. An advertising guru once said: “the aim of radio advertising is to sell the sizzle not the bacon.”

Also you have to place your ads at the same times that your target is more likely to be listening. If your customers are late night listeners then it wouldn’t make any sense to run your spots early in the morning.

It is a great marketing tool for helping you promote your online business and is a very powerful medium. It can be a very productive way for a company to use its advertising dollars if it’s done correctly.

Radio advertising usually is more effective if it’s combined with some other form of advertising. For example, print or television ads run in conjunction with your radio campaign. Radio advertising is invasive and persuasive and reaches a captive audience.

Another reason why radio may be advantageous is that your target may not be magazine readers or television watchers and this medium may be the only way to get their attention. Internet Marketers also need to realize that radio advertising is, in some cases, far less expensive than other forms of advertising.

Plus, with the popularity of Internet Radio sky rocketing this offers another audience to tap into and the list of benefits derived from radio is growing exponentially.

Radio advertising is another way to get one’s online business or organization recognized both locally and nationally if that’s your goal. For those entities looking to reach as many people as possible, it is simply another convenient marketing solution.

Another major advantage of radio advertising is that it is inexpensive to produce ads and to place them. This allows small business owners the luxury of placing advertisements on more than one station in a given market.

Direct response radio advertising is a very powerful way to grow your business profitably. According to John Blackledge analyst with JP Morgan, Internet radio advertising was estimated at $500 million in 2007.

Local radio advertising is limited to a specific and contained demographic area and is both considerably less costly to produce and can be narrowly tailored to the audiences of particular stations. Of all the traditional advertising media, radio advertising is the least avoided, according to Canadian media studies.

Offline methods have been shown to be very effective at driving traffic online. If increasing Web traffic is your goal, using traditional media outlets to increase traffic should be a part of your internet marketing mix. Ultimately, you’ll need to weigh the pros and cons to decide whether radio advertising is right for your business.

Why You Should Consider Magazine Advertising for Your Online Business

Magazine advertising can be very effective since the audience is usually pre-qualified. In other words, if you are advertising for a home based business opportunity you would put your ad in a home based business magazine.

Therefore, everyone that sees your ad is “qualified”. Also, most people buy magazines from news stands, which indicate they are interested and willing to spend money There are multiple ways you can advertise in a magazine such as a full page, half page, or quarter page ad. You can also choose to use the classified section.

The key is to be consistent. If you can’t afford to run a full-page ad for 6 months then don’t do it. Run a less expensive ad like a quarter page ad or classified ad for the full duration of 6 months. Consistency is the key in marketing.

Every magazine will have what’s called a rate card. This is where you will find the cost to advertise in the magazine. Don’t pay the full amount shown on the rate card. You can always negotiate a better deal, for example, if the magazine is close to their deadline and need some more advertisements they will give you a better deal.

Your first consideration should be, “What should my ad look like?” This is a very important question because you want your ad to stand out from the crowd. The first step to reaching this goal is to write a very eye catching headline.

Keep the ad fresh and lively by using action words and not using long winded sentences. This is where the KISS principle should apply.

Don’t lose sight of your ultimate goal which is to get your target to your website. Buy some magazines and look through them to see what advertisements catch your eye. What did they do differently? What did their headline say? What was the layout like? You will learn more by seeing what successful advertisements look like than by reading about it.

Once you have an idea of what your ad will look like you can go to http://Elance.com and post your project to have a designer work on it. This is a website where professional designers can bid on your project and you choose the one you like. Usually you can get quite a good deal.

Remember, your ad copy is the most important part. Think long and hard about what you are going to say, what words you are going to use to draw the reader into the piece. Try writing different headlines and pick the one you like best. Here is a list of some very powerful and emotional words that you can use when writing your copy:

Discover, Easy, Money, Fast, Proven, Secrets, Revealed, Power, Save

Make sure that you request to have your advertisement show up on the right hand side. It has been proven that you will get a better response. Here are some magazines that you might want to consider advertising in:

Entrepreneur Magazine http://Entrepreneur.com

Home Business Connection Magazine http://hbcmag.com

Home Business Magazine http://homebusinessmag.com

Opportunity World Magazine http://opportunityworld.com

Small Business Opportunities Magazine http://sbomag.com

Get Rich At Home Magazine http://sbomag.com

There are many more magazines you could consider such as local publications. Finally, do your research and choose the one that best suits your needs.

How to Write an Effective Sales Letter

Sales letters are a low cost way of promoting your products or services online and can be one of your most effective promotional tools. Sales letters are those long scrolling web pages that help sell products and services online and are a low cost advertising medium that can have you realizing high profits.

Many sales letters are thrown away without being read simply because they appear too complicated and too wordy. Wordy sales letters are too much trouble to read and tend not to hold the attention of the prospective client.

Because the vast majority of sales letters are sent as a follow up to a previous encounter, you should have sufficient information to thoroughly tailor your script to that particular target. Your sales letter has to be sharp, persuasive, and effective because powerful sales letters are your conduit to a larger customer base and increased profits.

Don’t worry too much about the writing style, since sales letters are written with the idea in mind of converting prospects into customers and not with the idea of winning creative awards. Successful sales copy is generally more specific and aimed not at the world at large, but aimed at a specific sector or target who have been interested in the past or who require a specific product.

All good sales letters are written with the reader’s specific needs in mind and when writing it you should try to put yourself in the potential customer’s shoes. By doing so you should be able to answer any questions that client has in the sales script.

Keep in mind, sales letters are not letters in the traditional sense and also thinking about how many sales letters are sent in a day, it is important to know how to get yours to stand out and be noticed. It should attract the reader to it and make them want to find out what it’s about.

These one or two page advertisements should follow a logical sequence or flow, starting of course with the subject line or headline. Common mistakes in sales letters are openings or subject lines such as “Enclosed please find,” “Per our discussion”, or “Attached is”.

These are generic at best and are certainly not eye catching or attention getters. The subject line or headline should resonate with the reader and stir up feelings of interest or set the stage for solving a problem they may be experiencing. They should contain words such as “How to” or “Discover” or “Secret revealed”.

Next your script should contain a story which draws people into the letter. Create a hook or make them curious about something; ask a question but don’t provide the solution just yet. Personalize the letter with a photo of yourself which sometimes helps the reader identify with you as a person and not just some unknown entity looking for their money.

Your communication should follow the AIDA principle or outline. First get their Attention, then peak their Interest and follow this up by feeding their Desire by showing them what your product does, how it can solve their particular problem.

This should conclude the process by spurring them to Action which is of course making a purchase. Adding Bonuses is always a good idea because everyone likes something for nothing. Also include the dollar value for those bonuses, if possible, to demonstrate the true value they are getting for their investment.

A good sales letter should also include testimonials from satisfied customers. This is showing proof that the product can do what you say it does. The reader doesn’t just have to take your word for it. Always include a no questions asked, money back guarantee for 30 or 60 days.

This helps the reader over the final hurdle by showing that if they aren’t completely satisfied for any reason they can get their money back. This also helps reduce buyer’s remorse.

Finally, many sales letters fail because the writer didn’t ask for the sale, which is the whole point of this exercise to begin with. That’s like going to confession and sitting in the box for a half an hour and not telling the priest what you did. What’s the point?

Sales letters are not just about scribbling a few lines on a piece of paper and hoping that someone is going to buy your product just because you want them to. Writing an effective sales letter is an art in and of itself and should be treated as such if you’re going to have any success whatsoever online.

Is Multi-Level Marketing a Pyramid Scheme or a Legitimate Business Model?

MLM is an acronym for Multi-Level Marketing, sometimes called Network Marketing or Consumer Direct Marketing, or Seller Assisted Marketing. It is essentially any business where payouts occur at two or more levels.

MLM is not a pyramid scheme and is nothing more than a company who has Distributors, Independent Business Owners, Franchise Owners, Independent Agents and so on. It is a legitimate business model, but some people have chosen to create cons and rip-offs using this model thus giving it the bad reputation it carries in some business and online circles today.

It is a very attractive business model to most because it sells hope and the dream of residual income for life. It is the best option for many for owning their own business and attaining real economic independence.

The main premise or idea behind MLM is that hard work at the outset yields residual income for life. It is a perfectly legitimate business model which is basically a channel of distribution for goods and services that also can have a “Franchise” opportunity attached.

MLM is still essentially a person-to-person system of marketing and is a way to get undue credibility by exploiting people’s personal friendships and relationships by networking.

MLM is also defined by its rewarding people to recruit others in multiple levels and the idea is that people not only try to sell their product, but try to recruit others to sell the product as well. On the other hand pyramid schemes contain no products or services, or they include bogus products in order to justify the continuation of the opportunity.

Another criticism of MLM is the exploitation of our relatives and friends urging them to join our opportunity which often stresses relationships unnecessarily and is considered by many to be a questionable marketing tactic.

One MLM practice still in use today by some Financial Planning and Insurance companies consists of writing a list of 100 family and friends and trying to solicit them to attend your can’t miss network marketing business opportunity meeting.

One of the biggest problems facing MLM is that they seem to attract and even prey upon people who are down-and-out and desperate, and who can least afford to lose their money by purchasing memberships in these dubious programs.

These people are usually drawn to a story built around a legitimate company which elicits an understanding of the unique benefits offered by the company’s products while creating the enthusiasm to share the story with and therefore draw others into the opportunity.

As a result, there is common belief that MLM is a feasible business investment or career choice for nearly everyone and that the odds of financial success in the endeavor are comparable or better than other employment or business enterprises.

The marketing thrust of MLM is accordingly directed to prospective distributors, rather than pushing people to purchase the product. The major thrust is selling the opportunity because of the impracticality of door-to-door selling.

This is why MLM is a business that just keeps reselling the opportunity to sign up more distributors. The theory behind MLM is that the larger the network of distributors, the more product the business will be able to sell.

Whether you agree or disagree with Multi-Level Marketing, it has been around in one form or another for a long time and it will be around in one form or another for a long time to come.

The Benefits of Google’s Adsense to Webmasters

AdSense is a program from Google that you can use to generate advertising revenue on your website. Google runs this ad allocation program that allows webmasters to generate revenue by displaying ads on their websites. The content of these ads is determined by the content on your website which is determined by Google.

Google sifts through your site’s content and places very relevant ads automatically on your site. They provide text, image and video advertisements that appear on participating websites. These ads appear based on the keywords and content present on the website in question. Adsense is a great way to get more out of your site, by creating an alternative revenue stream.

AdSense is definitely worth pursuing, and the best way to benefit is to build a high quality website rich in content. There are thousands of advertisers willing to pay big money to get exposure for their products online thus providing another benefit to Webmasters by providing another opportunity to monetize their traffic.

This program is all about high quality, targeted content and the more targeted your content, the more harmonized the search engines’ ads will be to your website and its content. Therefore, if your advertisements are targeting your visitors the more likely they will be to click on the ads because they find them interesting and the more money you will make from your website.

Adsense is also particularly useful for testing a new site to see if it’s going to make the money that was projected during the initial research.

This can help determine if any changes need to be made to the site to make it more profitable and whether or not it’s worth the expense to continue with the website in its current format. Another benefit to Webmasters is that Google AdSense is free.

Google does all the work in the sense of supplying the ads and determining which ads would be more relevant to your website. However when it comes down to the final decision it’s up to the website owner as to which ads go and which ones stay.

This is another benefit to the webmaster as well as the fact that he or she can also determine the final look of the promotion in terms of the color and how it fits into the website’s overall scheme.

Another great thing about Google AdSense is that it rewards you for creating sites rich in high quality, focused content which in turn makes the Web a better place for everyone concerned. The key to making great money with this program is to place ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords.

Once it is enabled, Google will automatically crawl the content of your pages and deliver ads that are relevant to your audience and your site content. These ads are so well matched that your visitors will actually find them interesting.

AdSense has become a popular method of placing advertising on a website because the advertisements are less intrusive than most banners and the content of the advertisements is often relevant to the website.

This program has been particularly important for small websites who do not have the budget or resources for developing advertising sales programs and sales people to deliver advertising revenue. Google’s AdSense is a superb revenue generating opportunity, which offers many benefits for small, medium and large websites online today.

Why Is Social Media Marketing So Important?

Social Media Marketing is a modified term of conventional Product and Service Marketing. Social marketing is not about advertising, at least not advertising on its own. It is the art of getting others to talk about your brand or products. Social marketing is the future so learning to get it right is very important.

It’s about finding your customers where they are. Social marketing is not simply buying a banner ad campaign that runs on a social network. It uses marketing techniques to generate discussion and promote information, attitudes, values and behaviors. The benefits of marketing in this way are far too numerous to ignore.

One of the benefits of embracing Social Media Marketing campaigns is Traffic from the Social Network. Traffic is great for any website where the business model is based on site session numbers, page views, advertising impressions and CPC metrics.

As with any form of internet marketing, your campaign needs to be really well thought out, and you must spend a fair amount of time on planning strategy and creating exceptional content. This is followed by promoting and monitoring and tracking the results closely.

Take your time and consider your campaign setup carefully, but be sure to get out and participate in this Internet Marketing strategy. Social Marketing is critical to the Internet Marketing Mix.

Many marketers are unsure of how to approach marketing in the social networks or even if they should approach it. The primary aim of social marketing by its original definition is social good, while in commercial marketing the aim is primarily financial.

When compiling your Social Media Network Strategy always keep in mind your customer base and what they want. Do they participate in the social networks online and is this something they would like to see your business involved with. If the answer is yes you might want to start by adding a Blog to your website.

If your employees are into the social networking scene ask them to add articles to the Blog. Always remember to add the company logo, name and any other identifying features to the background.

Once you have that in place you could consider joining one or more of the social networking sites. Choose carefully because there are many out there with some being just a waste of your time. Facebook and MySpace are two of the more popular ones.

After joining you can start a group or become a member of a group whose primary interest is your type of business, product or service.

This is a good starting point and once you begin to understand how Social Media Networking operates you can expand your involvement to other areas of interest. Remember Social Networking is the new wave and ignoring it as a strategy to add to your marketing mix could be devastating to your enterprise.

Social marketing is just a smart idea. It’s not just a slogan, public service announcement, or one-time communication or mass media campaign. Social marketing is a powerful tool that can improve an individual’s, a group’s, or a society’s welfare.

Social marketing is a relatively new, often misunderstood form of online marketing that is reaping huge rewards for website owners who incorporate it into their marketing plan.

Product Review: Social Traffic Explosion

So many people have been saying for months now that using the social marketing sites like MySpace, Facebook and the others is a great way to get traffic.

But there’s been a problem and that’s been no one has ever showed you how to do actually do it.

Not only that but a lot of these social sites don’t like you posting your website links and affiliate links all over the place so you can sometimes end up getting blocked or just not getting any traffic.

Well I found myself in the same position - I knew a little bit about social marketing, enough to be dangerous. But the problem was that although I was spending plenty of hours on these websites I just wasn’t getting any traffic or sales.

That’s when I started to look around and realized that wouldn’t it be great if there was a way you could watch how to properly get set up with the social sites in such a way that you were guaranteed to get lots of traffic?

And that’s where Social Traffic Explosion comes in …

… with 8 comprehensive step by step videos it shows you EVERYTHING you need to know about driving lots of traffic into your website and affiliate links from the social marketing sites.

Social Marketing For Massive Traffic

You know how important traffic is to the life of your website?

Of course you do.

So how about I share with you some of the best ways to get traffic coming into your site using those “social marketing” sites that everyone’s talking about?

WHAT IS SOCIAL MARKETING?

People call it social marketing, web 2.0 or new age marketing but the fact of the matter is - you need to be using the social marketing websites to your advantage because there’s tons of free traffic to be had from them.

The big names like MySpace, Facebook and the rest are not only dominating news stories now and people’s minds they are starting to play a really big part in driving traffic to marketer’s pages online. The problem though is this …

… social sites don’t like marketers! It’s true! So you have to be careful when you are using them that you don’t get banned. The key is to adopt this simple “4 H’s” approach;

Humor
Honesty
Have fun
Help people

As long as you can inject a little bit of humor into your social marketing profile or even just a little piece of who you really are then you will start attracting lots of friends and widening your network.

You also need to maintain an honest approach throughout. No point uploading photos to your profile of P Diddy or Pamela Anderson pretending they’re someone you’re interested in. People want to get to know you so be honest.

Have fun! That’s one of the great things about social marketing is that you can have lots of fun doing it. Meeting new people, learning new stuff and making money from the traffic that you get from it all at the same time.

Also remember to help people. The more you can help people the more they will help you in return. So add useful links and recommendations to your profiles. Point people in the right direction and answer any questions people post on your profile or contact you with.
